Speaking of food.......

If you are like me and you need inspiration when it comes to cooking in the kitchen then you have to visit Bentobloggy.com . I met Emily a few years ago when we were members of a local moms group (http://www.atlantaareamommies.com/) but I had no idea what a great cook she is! She makes me want to really learn the art of cooking.

You can also enter to win a  Le Creuset Tarte Tatin 2 quart enameled cast iron dish on her site!

Time to get ready for our veggie garden

Woo hoo! Spring is just around the corner and Leah and I have started making preparations for our yearly veggie garden. I like to grow everything from seeds so Leah can watch them sprout and grow. We also talk about photosynthesis and she makes sure that the plants have everything they need to grow.

I bought the supplies yesterday and picked out three types of seeds:
  • Melting sugar snow peas (the name just sounded so yummy)
  • Tomato (early girl hybrid)
  • Basil (we use tons of basil)
I will take Leah today or tomorrow to pick out more seeds but I wanted her to have some to get started yesterday.

We have a lot of fun looking at all the different types of seeds and it amazes us how small some seeds are. I can't wait to see what other types of seeds she wants to plant!

Food Makeover!

I confess! I have let things slide when it comes to our eating habits. This really hit me last weekend when I realized that half of our grocery shopping consisted of buying snack food. (hangs head in shame) Also, our weekly meal list seems to be more convenient meals instead of meals that are balanced. This is unacceptable! I can no longer let this slide. I am worried that Leah will grow up thinking this is the norm and doom her to a life of bad eating choices.

How did we get here?
    •  Busy schedules
    • Buying for convenience vs. nutritional
    • Too much snacking
    • Making meals plans that lack balance
And this guy……………
My husband loves to snack and loves his sweets. He is going to be my biggest challenge when it comes to revamping the kitchen and our food.
Sunday is our usual grocery shopping day so this morning I cleaned out the pantry. It was amazing how much I was able to toss (the pantry was overdue for a 'spring cleaning') and it also gave me another peek at what "nutritionally empty" items we got into the habit of buying recently.
I also realized that the cookbooks I have are not healthy cookbooks so I am replacing those with cookbooks that are full of healthy recipes with the busy family in mind.
    *Stay tuned for updates.........

Leah Quotes

My child is always saying things out of the blue that have me rolling on the floor laughing (ROFL). Here are a few I posted on FB:

*I’m faster than a cheetah on the highway.

*Mom, if a boy is chasing me and trying to get me I will kick him in the penis!
That's my girl!

*(while running around the house)  Mama, my brain is on fire! I’m trying to air it out.

*Make $100 because I have $40 and I want an American girl doll so bad that I'm going to throw up if you give me one.
We were able to avoid any projectile vomiting.

*Mom, I have a rip in my butt.
Do tell.

*My underwear is holding my butt down.
LOL!

*I'll give you a dollar if you make me dinner.
I swear, I do feed my daughter.

*Mom, I think I'm starting puberty. See, my boobs are starting to grow!
Oh good heavens!

*If I see a rogue wave made out of money I'm running towards it!
Me too, baby. Me too!

The Tooth is Out!!

Woo hoo!! Finally, Leah's tooth is out! I am so happy and now I can stop obsessing over it. And all it took was ice cream from the ice cream truck! She was sitting happily with her friend, Savannah, chomping on her ice cream when I looked over and noticed the tooth was missing. She accidently swallowed her tooth! I was afraid she was going to be upset over it but she was happy that the ice cream took care of it. She was really afraid to pull the tooth out because she thought it would hurt really bad.

A big thank you to the ice cream man for selling hard as rock ice cream! Woot!

Mama, can I sleep in your bed?

Last night as I was getting ready for bed I noticed something laying on my side of the bed. As I got closer I saw that it was a strip from my label maker. Apparently Leah got a hold of it and printed out a note to me:

LOL! She was sound asleep in her bed when I got the note but if she was still awake I would have let her crawl into bed with me.
